ABOUT ME
My name is Eunsan and I’m an illustrator based in Brooklyn.
I was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Australia and Canada before finally settling in New York. I am fascinated by both written langauge and visual culture and how we can use one to learn the other (and vice versa).
While learning Icelandic, I began drawing words as icons to help me memorize them, and started documenting them on Every Single Word in Icelandic. I later turned this project into a book titled Iceland in Icons: a Pictographic Travel Guide that was published in Iceland by Forlagið.
In 2019, I started My Korean Childhood in an effort to reconnect with my roots and to share my love for Korean culture through fun and relatable illustrations. Even though Korean is my mother tongue, I am still learning new things about it every day.
In my free time I also enjoy tactile crafts like ceramics and embroidery.
